Wedding Dress Alterations in Birmingham Alabama

I love having brides in for their first fitting for wedding gown

They know they have found their perfect gown and think it fits like a glove. Or at least they think so until they visit us.

A pin here, a fold there and all of a sudden, their dress goes from beautiful to sensational, like it was made just for them.

Setting up your wedding gown alterations is the first step you need to take after you find your perfect dress.

No one is a true size six, eight or ten. We all have different bodies with different bumps, curves and unique assets. And your wedding day is the one time when you want a custom fit not just an off-the-rack fit.

It takes time, though, to make alterations and then take care of the remaining wedding gown preparation. Once you find your dress whether it's in a wedding gown shop, online or you find a vintage shop, your next stop should be the seamstress.

You should expect to have at least a couple of fittings. The first fitting will be to determine the gown's fit on you and make adjustments. If you bought a used or vintage wedding dress, your seamstress will also assess closures and accessories like beading, lace and buttons. A second fitting will occur after the first alterations are made. Depending on you and the dress, you may have a third fitting as well.

After the fittings, you need to have your dress cleaned and pressed and set up for storage until the wedding day so it stays clean and wrinkle-free. Can you see now why a trip to the seamstress should be your first stop after you buy your dress?

The look on a bride's face is priceless when they see themselves in their dress after all the wedding gown alterations have been made. They know they look spectacular that they look like the bride they knew they were meant to be.
